From the Climate-Efficient Technology project to the formation of SWENTECH

Swentech is the collective name of the national initiative for the collection of Swedish environmental technology power, which Nutek began at the start of 2002.

The objective is to focus on climate-effective technology as a means of stimulating the Swedish innovation system and thereby create possibilities for growth and export for Swedish businesses. At the same time, the hope is that the project can be used to increase co-operation between different players – both central and regional.

The preparation group, in which Mercatus participated, has drawn up a proposal for how a collection of power is to be set up based on existing resources. The proposal, which contains a concrete action plan, was presented to then Prime Minister Göran Persson, the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communication, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment at the end of 2002.

On 1 July 2005, the government decided to form a Swedish environmental technology council. The role of the council is to co-ordinate efforts in environmental technology, environment-driven business development and environmental technology export. Swedish environmental technology is quickly moving forward and we are part of the new board that will establish the council.

Information on the Environmental Technology Council will be presented on the website as it becomes available.
